Evaluation
The Wellness Initiative contracts with ETR Associates to conduct an annual evaluation of Wellness Program Services. Wellness uses this data to continually work to improve services and meet the needs of the diversity of students that we serve.
2009-2010 data demonstrate that Wellness Services
Enhance Students’ Connection to School
As a result of participating in individual counseling services through Wellness Programs:
- 81% of students report coming to school more often
- 69% of students report doing better in school
Help Students Reduce Their Use of Tobacco, Alcohol and Other Drugs
As a result of participating in Wellness support groups:
- 91% of students who learned how to reduce their use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs report attempting to do so
- 95% of those students report actually reducing their use
Promote Students’ Mental Health
As a result of participating in individual counseling services through Wellness Programs:
- 79% of students report that they learned ways to reduce stress in their lives
- 82% of students report feeling better about themselves
Provide a Safe Place For Students
Among students receiving individual counseling services through Wellness Programs:
- 95% report that staff treated them with respect
- 93% report feeling “heard and understood”
- 90% report that there is an adult in the Wellness Program who really cares about them
